It’s been only 3 months since the initial idea, although it’s more like years to Pedja and me ;). So many things have happened in the past few months, and we’ve met so many new people and learned a lot of new things. Such a great experience this is! :)

Of course, there were also some days when both of us just wanted to quit everything and buy a few sheep, and take them to some far-away-no-humans place and become a shepherd :)

As of today the part of work on web shop is done. And although shop is online only a few hours, we already have a nice lil’ bunch of orders for beta version of wtfJeans! :) And it’s all thanks to our twitter community. Twittersphere, thank you! :)

The web shop is pretty nice and simple, the payment goes through PayPal and the shipment is 9€ no matter where you’re from.

So, if you’re a geek or you just loooooove your iPhone or your iPodTouch, go ahead : take a look at wtfJeans shop and the gallery on it :)

Factory prototypes have arrived! Yes, they’re finally here! :))
Now, there are just two more things to do: photo shooting and than the wtfJeans online shop can start to roll! :)

Great news: Factory prototypes are finished today! Yeay! :)) But, since the factory is in Serbia, and we’re in France, it will take a few days till we get them. But, when we DO get them…oh, boy! :) I’m promising you lots of photos and videos, with all those details we’ve been writing about! :)

In the meantime, we’re preparing the packaging and we’ve also ordered MOO stickers which we’ll be giving away to wtfJeans buyers. Simple and nicely designed stickers for your laptops, netbooks or whatever. They’ll be delivered these days, and as always: we’ll twitpic them. ;) Btw, don’t you just love Moo? :)

Since the online-shop will be on our newly designed website, we’ll be receiving orders there directly, and the starting/release date is March 1st. And if you would like to save some money, make sure to place your order at the beginning of the next month. Why? Well, here’s why:

There will be 3 types of wtfJeans sale.
3 periods of time, 3 amounts of stock, 3 different prices.

BETA Sale

Since our website will be released on March 1, 2010, that is also the time when we’re going to release BETA sale. That is in fact pre-order, not sale, but if you order wtfJeans during March, you have a chance to buy it pretty cheap. Almost 50% cheaper than the final offer ;) But, this will last only during March, and it’s available only for the first 100 pairs. Buyers will get their jeans in the second half of April. This first sale/version of wtfJeans is called BETA because there’s a slight possibility it will be a little different than the rest of the stock. Maybe a color of thread will be different for a shade or two, and things like that… These minor changes could also depend on the feedback of BETA buyers. If you’re one of them, do not hesitate to contact us. ;)

Early Bird Sale

This, second sale, starts right after BETA. 400 (of 900) pairs of jeans will be available for purchasing at this stage. The price will be higher than BETA, but still cheaper than the final offer, about 30-40%. Distribution of EarlyBird jeans will be during or at the end of summer.

Final Offer

Will be available for ordering at the end of August or at the beginning of September. Final Offer buyers will get their wtfJeans within a few days after paying the full purchase price. But, only if the size they need is still in stock. This is because we’re making only 900 pairs after 100 of BETA’s, and EarlyBird buyers will be in advance when it comes to shipping.

Until the 1st of March, we’ll have plenty of things to do. Such as: waiting for the factory-made prototypes, and deciding on the packaging. Big box, little one, round one, square one…. Keep a look out and stay posted! ;)

We’re back from Serbia and Croatia, and at moment we’re waiting for the second prototypes to be send to us from the factory. Second prototypes are made of jeans that will be used during production, and they’re made in the factory, using industrial sewing machines.

We’re very happy that, thanks to a friend of ours, we were able to find very good factory which is run by a man very dedicated to what he does.

As soon as he sends us second prototypes or first models (not sure what is the right term)which will happen’ within next 10 days, we’ll do some photo-shooting and we’ll show them to you.

Few days ago, in Croatia we were able to persuade an brilliant web designer to create wtfJeans web site/online shop. His name is Marko Dugonjic, he owns Creative Nights, and believe me: he’s really gonna do some great/creative geeky-magic with our site! :)

People who’re gonna bring Marko’s design into life, are the guys from Simplicity – web development company. They’ll do development of the site and web shop.

We’re gonna launch web site within one month, on March 1st, and after that you’ll be able to order BETA version of wtfJeans.

They’ve once more measured thighline (or crotchline – fullest part of the upper leg) and hemline (the line used for the finished hem), which will determine the wideness of jeans legs. They’ve also measured seat depth (depth of the figure, while sitting on a flat surface) and center seams, to determine where the waist of the jeans is going to be: not too high or too low – we want it just perfect! :)

Our Twitter follower asked us today (after we’ve twitpicked some photos) “Where are the iPhone pockets?! :(” :) So, let me explain: today there were no pockets on wtfJeans. Not even one. It’s because this first fitting is done on the “skeleton”. It is basically just two legs stitched in the middle. During this fitting was decided where all the extra parts (including iPhone pockets) are going to be sewed… Long story short: iPhone pockets will be visible tomorrow after second, and hopefully last fitting. ;)

We were so happy but also confused. Why confused? Well, it wasn’t an easy decision: 10 models, 5 male and 5 female versions. The only thing all these models had in common was that they were all straight cut and had special pockets for iPhones. So, we were deciding something like this: “Model No3 is completely out, but I really like how the waist looks on No1, and I like the back pockets on No4. Or maybe, we could combine them with a front pockets of No1…” :))

After 3 hours, we have finally decided. Or, we thought so. ;)

When we went to tailor’s shop, we thought that they will just do the measuring and that’s it. Oh, we were so wrong! :)

When you get one of the best tailors in the whole country, be sure that they’re not gonna simply sew from design that you provide them with. Oh, no! If they accept to work for you, they have the intention to make it as best as possible, and they will ask you million of questions. :) We were definitely not prepared for that! :) Our designer works with this tailor for quite some time, and they make a very good team, so they both helped us a lot. And they also explained us things such us: importance of choosing the perfect sewing stitches, how size of back pockets can visually make our bottoms bigger or smaller… We’ve also learned that 95% of men wear IT on the right side :)) – although I really can’t remember why was that important. :))

The biggest problem we had at tailor’s was choosing the inner padding for iPhone pockets. The one we had in mind can’t be used because it can not be washed on the same temperatures as denim. One more thing we’ve learned from our tailor: choosing compatible fabrics. At the end, “the winner” for padding was a type of microfiber material, which is both perfect for iPhones and compatible with denim’s washing and drying.
So, after a couple of hours of brainstorming, we had final design versions together with stitches, pockets, fabrics, zippers, buttons, and all other variety of things we didn’t even know exist!

These wtfJeans prototypes will be finished on Tuesday, fittings are on Monday, so: stay tuned to see how they look like :)
